Welcome to the Shouldice Seasonal Dome!
Today, Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) in partnership with the City of Calgary, the Greater Calgary Amateur Football Association (GCAFA) and the Calgary Blizzards Soccer Club officially celebrate the grand opening of a new multi-sport facility development project: the Shouldice Seasonal Dome.
The Shouldice Seasonal Dome is an air-supported structure over the Encana field at Shouldice Athletic Park (1515 Home Rd NW) allowing for year-round use. The structure will be inflated October through May to fully maximize field usage throughout the year.
This is a great collaboration amongst different sporting organizations, in support of sport, that CMSA has been working on for the last five years.
What this means for the CMSA League
The opening of this facility supports CMSA’s league transition to 7v7 across U10 – U19 at all tiers.
CMSA’s goal is to get more kids engaged in soccer and believes that facilities are a key pillar in sport development. By increasing indoor non-boarded field spaces, it presents the opportunity to support and further grow the game, enhance player development through league play, and provides quality training spaces for our member-clubs.
Facility Development
CMSA continues to prioritize facility development working closely with the City of Calgary to bring new facilities online that align with the future needs of soccer and as the sport moves to better align formats between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
There are a number of facility development projects currently in the works and CMSA looks forward to sharing details on these initiatives with our membership.
Funding Partners
The Shouldice Seasonal Dome was made possible through funding from the Government of Alberta, the City of Calgary, the Calgary Flames Foundation, Calgary Minor Soccer Association and Calgary Blizzard Soccer Club.
