U17 Women's National Team Coach in Calgary to scout players for the upcoming U17 camp in February

Gary Moody, Canada Soccer U17 Women's National Team Coach, was in Calgary this week to scout players to include in the upcoming U17 National Team camp in February. Gary observed the Whitecaps Prospect Girls playing against the 2012 Whitecaps Prospect Boys at the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome. We are excited to support these girls as they take their next steps in their soccer careers. Gary also viewed the Calgary Wild FC/Alberta Soccer HPP Program during his time in Calgary.
"It's great to have Canada Soccer back in town looking at the players that we have here. We know that Calgary is a hotbed for female talent in the country and have shown in previous cycles of programs that Calgary and Alberta can supply the youth national teams with top talent. Players like Mya Jones, Caleigh Boeckx, Andersen Williams, Anna Hauer, Izzy Monck, Leah Parsons, and Nyema Ingleton have shown that there is a high amount of quality here and they are playing key roles and minutes for these youth national teams," said CMSA Technical Manager Jordan Stewart. "Partnerships with the Vancouver Whitecaps and other programs in Calgary are providing even greater access to opportunity for our female players here."
Chris McKaig - Vancouver Whitecaps FC Calgary Academy Centre Head Coach said, "Shows how highly regarded Calgary is in developing national team prospects, and the collectively fantastic job everyone is doing. It demonstrates the opportunities that are touching distance for these players and reiterates why it’s important for our club to prioritize top resources to players in order for them to reach their potential. Gary has been very impressed at the level of the players for future opportunities within the youth national team set up."
"Alberta Soccer is proud to see our players being recognized nationally," said Patrik Zimmermann, Sporting Director of Alberta Soccer. "The collaboration between local clubs, academies, and our HPP program highlights the incredible talent and development opportunities in Calgary and across Alberta. We are committed to supporting these athletes as they continue to grow and showcase their abilities at the game's highest levels."
