CMSA has 31 member clubs that you could coach for. Step 1 is finding the club that best suits your needs. Check out our MEMBER CLUBS page to explore our member organizations and apply directly on their website.

Once your club has confirmed your registration, proceed to Step 2.

Register for an NCCP Number

The NCCP number is your primary database for all coach education you will complete as records are housed in The Locker.

This number will be needed for all coaching courses.

Set up your CMSA Profile

All participants have their own CMSA profile (Household Account). CLICK HERE.

Through your profile you can view teams you are a part of, update relevant information such as your email address and upload your photo for Step 6.

Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Once your chosen club accepts your request to with coach or become a team official, you will be placed on a "team roster". This means you are officially listed as a part of a team. 

For step 2, volunteers listed on a team roster must request a Volunteer Voucher from CMSA.

To request a Volunteer Voucher, please email lfisher@calgaryminorsoccer.com. Once requested, CMSA will confirm that you are in the system, and provide you with verification.

After receiving your Volunteer Voucher, you can begin your application online. CLICK HERE and scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Perform Police Information Check"

• You must apply online within two weeks of receiving your Voucher.

Complete Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education - Theory and Practical

All U4 - U11 coaches must register and complete the online theory portion of the Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education Program. All Canada Soccer courses are valid for life.

Your Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach education module differs depending on which age group you would like to coach for.

• U10 - U12: Learn to Train
• U13 - U19: Soccer for Life

Please CLICK HERE to register for the appropriate age and stage of the players you are working with.

Upon completing the online theory for the Canada Soccer Grassroots Coach Education Program, coaches are to register in the Practical portion. The Practical (on-field) portion of the coaching course varies in time by the age and stage of the player they are working with. Practical session dates that can be found by CLICKING HERE.

Respect in Sport Activity Leader Program

This program educates youth leaders, coaches, officials and participants to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination.

NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module

Completion of the Make Ethical Decisions (MED) module and Online Evaluation is administered through the NCCP and Alberta Sport. There are two ways to complete this coach training:
 

1. Online course

a. Course dates and registration is handled through Alberta Sport for online training. 
 

2. Challenge the MED Online Evaluation

NCCP Making Headway in Sport

This soccer module will cover:

• What to do to prevent concussions 
• How to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion 
• What to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion 
• How to ensure athletes return to play safely

NCCP Emergency Action Plan Module
After completing this activity, coaches will be able to:

• Describe the importance of having an EAP
• Identify when to activate the EAP
• Explain the responsibilities of the charge person and call person when the EAP is activated
• Create a detailed EAP that includes all required information for responding to an emergency.

NCCP Rule of Two Module  

After completing the Understanding the Rule of Two eLearning module, participants will:  

• Have a solid understanding of the Rule of Two 
• Improve their ability to assess and implement preventive measures 
• Be aware of questions to ask to determine their sport organization’s policies

Get your ID Card and Communicate Completion Of All Courses With Your Club

Required for all team officials on U10-U19 teams, you can obtain your CMSA ID card by visiting our office during regular office hours or by appointment on select evenings and weekends.

Your ID card will only be issued if you have completed Steps 1 – 5 above.
