Refresher and Conversion Courses
Information
To referee in Alberta, you must be at least 12 years of age and are required to complete the Junior (Mini) Referee Course. Anyone 14 years of age is required to complete the Entry Level Referee Course.
Your credentials must be renewed each year, to do this, you must pass the entry exam and register for a Refresher Course. Once you have become a certified referee, you will be registered as an active member in the Alberta Soccer Association website database.
Volunteer Refresher Course
The RED program is designed for new referees. We consider RED to be the “next 16 hours” after your Entry Level course. Content of these monthly sessions focus on areas for development for new officials (i.e. Laws of the Game interpretations, referee mechanics/positioning, foul recognition, etc.). Each session will allow time for questions to help you with specific areas where you need further information or guidance.
